Give your puppy an excellent start and gain new insight into your puppy's behavior!
Puppies should stay with their mothers until at least 8-9 weeks of age. Proper socialization between the ages of 8-14 weeks is essential for a well-rounded, well-mannered and happy adult dog. Well trained and socialized dogs have more fun! They get to go more places with you, do more with you, and don't have to be put away when company comes over.
The Academy for Obedient Paws offers classes held at Noah's on Monday evenings. Classes are based on positive reinforcement training methods and include a copy of The Puppy Primer by Patricia McConnell.
Puppy classes begin with time for puppies to play together and socialize. They also work on desensitization with objects the puppy may encounter in his /her life. Basic obedience such as sit, stay, down, leave it, drop it, and come are presented. Problem prevention topics are discussed, including house training, crate training , chewing, nipping, and jumping.
This is a hands on class that everyone in the family is invited to attend. For more information please call 574-536-4334 and talk with Tracy or Jena at 574-875-0814.
Problem Behaviors and Behavior Treatment
The doctors at Noah's Landing are committed to strengthening the human-animal bond. This bond can easily be broken or damaged when a pet's behavior, such as biting, or eliminating in the house, interferes with your love for your pet.
We use methods based on scientific principles and positive reinforcement to focus on changing and improving the problem, instead of just masking or creating a new one.
We offer in depth behavior counseling and may recommend that you work with a specific trainer after a diagnosis and treatment plan are reached.
Please visit the Client Resources page for a printable questionnaire form the doctors will need you to complete.
